
The Chicago’s Pulse Certified Nursing Assistant program will take 124 hours to complete. This includes 40 hours of classroom instruction, 40 hours of laboratory instruction, 40 hours of on-site clinical instruction, and 4 hours of CPR training. There are no home study lessons involved in this program.
By the end of the training, students are expected to be able to explain the purpose of various health care organizations, identify members of the health care and nursing teams, know the requirements of a CNA, understand the ethical and legal practices related to health care, be able to describe the patients/residents Bill of Rights, and have a working familiarity with the following topics: Communication, Infection Control, Basic Safety/Emergencies, Body Mechanics/Ergonomics and Assisting the Patient with Mobility, The Patient’s/Resident’s Environment, Basic Human Needs, Measuring Vital Signs, Hygiene and Grooming, Nutrition, Elimination, the Body System, Cognitive Impairment and Mental Illness, Disease and Conditions, Rehabilitation and Restorative Care, Death and Dying, Vocabulary and Abbreviations. After the student has successfully completed all of the program requirements he or she will receive a Certificate of Completion from Chicago’s Pulse and be able to sit for the State exam.
This short term, intensive program meets the requirements as defined by ISBE and IDPH. It focuses on preparing students for the Illinois State Nurse Assistant Competency Evaluation Testing, as well as develop skills, attitudes and behaviors necessary for competent care giving.
After completing the course, participants will be able to recognize the importance of the CNA role in improving the quality of life for people in the healthcare system.
After passing the State’s Certification Examination, the graduate becomes a Certified Nurse Assistant as defined under state and federal laws under IDPH.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or its equivalent.

Our facility offers an atmosphere that motivates our participants to learn and enjoy themselves while completing the Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program. This program meets the requirements as defined by ISBE and IDPH.
Our program provides classroom, laboratory and supervised clinical training in the basic fundamentals of safe and knowledgeable care giving. We have a full simulation lab at our facility in order to prepare our students for their required clinical training at one of our nursing home clinical sites. A Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program is for students or individuals who need direct patient care, experience as an admission requirement for a higher level health care program, or for individuals who wish to expand their interest in health care as a career.
