Junellen Eastman, EMT-P

June, has been a paramedic since 1984, is a paramedic with the Chicago Fire Department. As an active paramedic, CPR is apart of her daily job and she performs this life saving skill most shift days.

June has been teaching the American Heart Association method of CPR for over 20 years. June is not only an instructor but also an instructor trainer. In 2000 when the AED was implemented across the United States, June has been responsible for training over 4000 serving fire fighters and new recruits in the American Heart Association method of CPR and AED, at the Chicago Fire Academy.  In addition she has been responsible for running training classes in CPR with AED all over the country for a number of national organisations.

June has also been an emergency medical technician instructor as well as a first aid instructor. June particularly likes to use her extensive practical paramedic experience to make the training she gives relevant to real life situations.

June is the founder of Chicago's Pulse and set the company up in 1995 because her field experience showed her that too many people are not trained in CPR. Too many calls she attends result in death when the outcome could have been different had lifesaving techniques been applied prior to the paramedic's arrival. She has therefore made it her company mission to train as many people as possible in this life saving skill.

June lives in Chicago Illinois with her husband Patrick and their three children, Jennifer, Emily and Aiden.

Darlene Sheehan

Darlene began her career in health care and public service in 1987. She became a licensed Emergency Medical/Ambulance Technician on July 31, 1987. On July 2, 1989 she began her career with the City of Chicago as a Call taker in the Fire Alarm Office for the Chicago Fire Department, answering 911 calls. While working full time, studying hard and using her experiences that she gained at work she was promoted to Fire Dispatcher on August 1, 1992. Darlene worked for many years and watched the Alarm Office go through many changes, the biggest being the integration of fire 911 and police 911 into what is now the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications Center, also known as the "911 Center”.  Darlene, was an asset as a Fire Communications Operator II, by maintaining a strong team, especially during the expansion of the office, as well as always assisting her co-workers, helping to train new hires as well as helping to train other Fire Communication Operators being promoted from call takers to dispatchers.   Darlene, has always had a sense of duty as well as the need to help educate. While maintaining a full schedule with the OEMC, she wanted to expand her career, and find even more creative ways to serve the public and help educate people. In an effort to build on her already vast knowledge of emergency skills, she became an American Heart association BLS CPR Instructor.

Darlene, has since retired from the city's 911 Center, with over 20 years of experience in serving the public. She continues to serve the public in retirement, by teaching. Darlene brings to CPR Pulse, not only the textbook knowledge of CPR, First Aid, and Emergency Life Saving Skills, but also years of hands on experience. Teaching has been very rewarding to her, and she is now part of the Faculty for Chicago’s Pulse and plans on sharing her knowledge for many years to come, by being an educator in a subject she feels is essential and the most gratifying work anyone can do. Saving Lives!

Darlene lives in Chicago, with her husband Daniel Sheehan, Retired Chicago Fire Department, and enjoys spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
